VisitScotland Stirling iCentre (Old Town Jail)

St John St, Stirling FK8 1EA, UK – 01786 475019

Excellent experience. The actor who portrays the different characters is brilliant! Interesting place and well presented.

OLD TOWN JAIL IS NO LONGER A TOURIST ATTRACTION! I was hoping to see old town jail but I arrived to a notice at it's entrance that says "permanently closed". It appears to be an office now as I see people in office wear entering and exiting the building. The VisitScotland centre is full of useful information and you can ask the friendly staff on places to visit while you're there. They'll be glad to help!

Destination Stirling Ltd

Old Town Jail, St John Street, Stirling FK8 1EA, UK – 01786 464640

What a fantastic attraction!!! The whole experience is so memorable. Having previously visited Inveraray Jail this was a breath of fresh air. Not only is the exhibition incredibly informative but the use of staff playing the roles of many historical figures adds so much, including not a small amount of humour, makes for this 5+ experience. Fantastic - an absolutely MUST see !!!!!

Stirling Castle

Castle Esplanade, Stirling FK8 1EJ, UK – 01786 450000

Came here to escape from the rain for a day on our Scottish holiday. Spent about 2 hours here, was £15 per adult. Parking was £4 a car, would recommend parking in the town instead if you're going to look around Stirling too. The castle was great, lots of nooks and crannies to explore and good information about the history of the occupants. My favourite bit was the colourful garden just as you enter, looked beautiful in August. There was also a traditional Scottish bagpipe band playing on the lawn.

This is an impressive castle and one steeped in critical history for Scotland. It’s worth visiting almost for the views alone as it stands on a high outcropping almost surrounded by open plains and distant hills. First time I came here the castle had actually just closed but seeing Stirling in the evening sun from that vantage point was magical. The castle itself is interesting with some quite remarkable history and it has been restored to an impressive standard.
